Miss Piggy goes too far
overtheedge2730 March 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Miss Piggy winds up crossing the line when she plants a fake story about her and Kermit getting secretly married in Vegas to the gossip papers (based on Kermit's dialog, it's not the first time she's done this). Enraged, Kermit chews her out and fires her on the spot. Meanwhile, celebrity guest, Loretta Swit tries to serve as mediator, and get the two to patch things up... that is until she's given the all too tempting offer to replace Miss Piggy.

This is probably one of my favorite episodes in the series. Kermit frequently endures a lot of abuse throughout the show, especially from Miss Piggy, and while he frequently gets annoyed it's not often that we get to see him genuinely angry, and in this case, he can get downright nasty. On that note, while Miss Piggy is one of my favorite characters, it was nice to see her on the receiving end of someone's wrath for a change, and watch her to try and muster as much dignity as she possibly can in the process. Sure in the end, we all know Kermit will hire her back. After all, love her or hate her, the show, or the Muppet franchise as a whole, simply wouldn't be the same without her.

Delightful

I love this episode. It's about time Miss Piggy gets some comeuppance. It's nice to see Kermit stand up to her for a change. Great writing all around and Loretta is fantastic. This episode also includes music from my favorite Stephen Sondheim show Company!

The terrible episode of the show!

This is episode is just AWFUL! I mean, this episode is really trying to make Kermit and Miss Piggy look like a couple hitting a rough patch in their relationship, and not in a funny way like in the SpongeBob episode, "Rock a Bye Bivalve." And gosh, is this just so lacking of Statler and Waldorf, that a story like this needs, because without them to back it up, it just comes off as ugly and not fun, thanks to both both Kermit and Piggy acting like idiot jerks! There was also a very easy solution to their problem. Piggy, apologize to Kermit, tell him that you're sorry! That's all he wants! I know it would defeat the purpose of the episode, but the writers should not have made a story where there's such simple SOLUTION THAT NONE OF THE CHARACTERS EVER THINK OF! The episode does end with Miss Piggy getting rehired, but no, it doesn't make up for the episode's lack of comedy, terrible plot, Kermit's temper, and just all around frustration.
