- Renowned artist Diego Santana lives on a remote island with his new young wife Margo. It's his 60th birthday and he's invited many friends to stay with them and celebrate the occasion. Included is his first wife, Belle Chaney and close friends Elaine McComber and retired police inspector Henry Kyle. Jessica Fletcher is also there along with London-based art dealer Sir John Landry. There was an attempt on Santana's life the night before Jessica arrived and the killer is successful soon after her arrival, killing him with a crossbow.
