- Jessica is in San Francisco to attend a book conference when she runs into her old friend, MI-6 agent Michael Hagarty. Or more accurately, he's arranged for them to bump into each other. Michael is concerned about his estranged daughter Andrea Cromwell who is engaged to a young banker, Paul Marlow. Paul has been the genius behind a merger between a small American bank owned by his employer Adam Quatrain and a Hong Kong bank, represented by Luc Li. The Hong Kong bank, however, is financed by Colombian drug dealers via Middle Eastern gangsters and Paul is well aware of what he's got himself into. Michael has tried to warn his daughter not to marry him but he admits that he's not been a very good father to her and she won't listen to him. When Paul is found dead, Michael is arrested but Jessica is certain the truth lies elsewhere and sets a trap for someone whom she's caught in a lie.—garykmcd
