It is too bad that MY FAVORITE MARTIAN didn't continue for a fourth season (budget problems the cause), because the stories began spoofing campy James Bond characters, much in the tradition of GET SMART. Enter Mrs. Brown's mooching, big mouth brother Alvin (played by Gavin MacLeod) who gets Tim and Martin in super big trouble with enemy agents, claiming he's working on a top secret government space project. Mastermind enemy agent Fat Man ( well played by Larry Mann) wants everything ASAP, even if he has to kill our heroes! MacLeod appeared a few times on the series as Alvin, the ultimate schemer, a familiar character he played on many shows (both comedy and drama) up until his co-starring on MARY TYLER MOORE. Catch the incomparable Larry Man as Fat Man, the quintessential tv comedy villain. Mann was a master of characterizations and was everywhere on tv in the 60s and 70s, one talented actor not to be forgotten. He truly has fun with this role. Note the Fat Man's headquarters are called CRUSH, a takeoff on GET SMART'S "CONTROL" headquarters. And Tim and Uncle Martin enter the place in a familiar gag telephone booth. Get it? Recommended. SEASON 3 EPISODE 17 full color dvd box set. The third and final season was filmed in color and certainly made a big difference for all us dedicated fans. Note Tim and Martin's apartment now done in martian green? (inside joke).
