Warning: Spoilers
This is one average episode of this show, but when you're talking about "NewsRadio" being average it's very good, we have three main plots in this one: 1) Beth wants to learn the right way to negotiate a new hat product she has made, and asks the help of none other than Mr. James , and this provides the show with many funny scenes, it has that generic ending of the tactic that Beth suggested first, actually ends up being the "right" one for this client, and this actually links very smoothly to the second plot 2) Lisa wants a raise, and tries to use Mr. James tactics as well, we later realize that she wants a raise, not because she thinks she deserves it but actually because she wants money to help an ex boyfriend and his band to record a song, oddly named "Come Back, Lisa" ,and althought this provides very funny scenes between Dave and Lisa (one of them is him forcing her to sing the song back to him) I thought this reason was a little weird, not to say it's wrong for Lisa to ask her current boyfriend money to help her ex boyfriend, because he is in fact her boss, and he is the one who can actually help, but with so mystery about what the money was for, I believed it would be for something like a surprise trip with Dave or a gift for him, I think that would've made more sense. Finally we have what i believe to be the most wasted plot of the episode, and what actually puts this only in the (7) category for me. 3) Bill has met a girl and she believes he is British and he doesn't have the guts to correct her, so now he must pretend do be british and hopes the gang doesn't screw things up as she is going to the Radio Station. This is one great premise, maybe one of the best in season 2, but I believed it is totally wasted to give room, to the other plot lines, while this was the one which in my opinion should've been the best. Bill is undoubtly the best character and this kind of plot lines have to be squeezed for the juice they have, we have a very brief scene with Joe and Matt also pretending to have different accents (pretty funny scene actually) and then basically we have Bill asking for advice to Dave (wasted scene) and finally we have 2 minutes in the end scene with an ending as unsatisfing as it's execution. Still the other plot lines were good enough to keep this a fun and entertaining episode. 7/10 ******* Peter Shelby
