Marissa and Alex become good friends and make a trip to LA to get Alex's heart jewelry back where Marissa pretends to be Alex's girlfriend. Sandy's mentor comes looking for his daughter Rebecca who was Sandy's big love back in time. Him and Kirsten have some problems because of it. Summer finds Seth's comic book drawings of her. Ryan tries to get Lindsay and Caleb together for dinner but it doesn't go well.

Once again many good story lines developing. I especially like the one of Sandy and Rebecca, now that she showed up I wonder where it will go. Of course I am sure him and Kirsten won't break up but some more issues may happen.

Things heat up between Sandy and Kirsten when Sandy decides to help his mentor in law school find his daughter, Rebecca, who was Sandy's first love. Seth and Zach start up a comic book based on their lives in Newport, while Summer questions why she's been left out. Ryan makes the attempt to unite Lindsay and Caleb after Lindsay tells Ryan she is curious in getting to know her "new" father. While Julie is in Paris, Marissa looks for new ways to rebel; in doing so, her friendship with Alex increases.

Seth clearly is still in love with Summer while Ryan confronts Caleb about Lindsay. Alex and Marissa start hanging out more and more and they plan a trip to L.A..

Summer discovers Little Miss Vixen, the doodles Seth did while he was in Portland. That hit her, because she realized how important she still is to him.

Seth and Alex's ex meet awkwardly at Alex's house. Marissa and Alex hang out everyday while Julie Cooper is in Europe. Sandy gets a new beach front office. Ryan is the mediator between Lindsay and Caleb Nichol. Sandy is reunited with his law school professor, Max. Sandy goes searching for his ex-fiancée, Rebecca Bloom, who is on the run from the FBI. Zach and Seth start working on their very own comic. Marissa and Alex steal the heart neck lesses from Alex's ex. Summer sees Seth's obsessive drawings of her and likes them. Lindsay has dinner ruined by Caleb's suspicions of her greed. Rebecca is thought to be dead, but resurfaces with her father.
