Another Clever Alien Plan
Hitchcoc2 October 2014
Warning: Spoilers
A tent show minister, played by the every weird Gary Busey, has a good thing going. He earns a decent living selling his snake oil to rubes who donate at the end of the show. His daughter helps him, using surveillance cameras and advising him through an ear piece. Everything is under control until a man in a wheel chair (not part of the planned show) comes forward and is "healed" by Busey. After the show, the young man, accompanied by his mother, offers himself as a student to Busey and tells him that he can make him huge amounts of money. At first things go well. He is able to levitate and put on a great show. But eventually, he becomes the star; the one they come to see. We also are treated to the fact that this guy and his mother are aliens. They are out to draw in the world to embrace violence in the name of the "one" truth. Busey, who has been a charlatan, is truly religious but feels God has turned his back on him (the death of his wife). He now feels he can redeem himself by putting an end to this dangerous being. As is usually the case with "The Outer Limits," there are some twists along the way. I found it really uncomfortable watching this, but it fits the formula well.

Warning: Spoilers
Not bad, Its the theatrics of the "Price is right" with a money driven evangelist who has lost his way and suddenly realizes that his "miracle" protege is somthing totally not of this world and not holy at all! He is tested and reminded of his how he chose his path and his faith and true calling to overcome this alien adversary.

Underrated Episode

Warning: Spoilers
I really enjoyed this episode. One of the better ones, the acting is superb, and draws one into the drama. This is one of those scripts that could have been mediocre in the hands of lesser actors. Busey has one of his best roles and is very believable as the slightly cynical evangelist. The plot is fairly unique and I think this is one that I saw when it came out so many years ago. The story itself is timeless and has a caveat against following faith blindly. It could have been titled 'Sheep to the Alien Slaughter' ... Not sure why anyone would be 'uncomfortable' watching this, unless they're some idiot Jebus Crispy...
