The episode that gets the whole saga rolling

Considering it's the pilot episode for PLCL the writers don't waste time setting up the Parker Lewis world. Right from the get go you see Parker's jack of all trades tendencies. Parker shows his video editing skills, his technological savvy (his auto-opening locker, compact monitors, buzzer to help Mikey cheat on a test, etc), ticket salesman, and keen ability to weasel his way through any situation. Mikey is a little different in this episode as he normally is suave with the ladies whereas here he requires Parker's assistance. Shelley shows her face as the evil sister out for her brothers destruction and Kubiac threatens to do the destructing of Parker. Milla Jovovich makes an appearance as the love interest (looking faaaantastic at that). I'd definitely recommend that if you're going to watch PLCL for the first time, or if you haven't seen it since the early 90's then you should watch this episode first.

Sublime and superb

Warning: Spoilers
I am a huge fan of Parker Lewis Can't Lose, and without a doubt this series is sadly underrated. Sure, there were the inevitable comparisons to Ferris Bueller, the TV spin-off of Ferris Bueller's Day Off, but Parker Lewis Can't Lose pretty much stood out on its own and lasted three seasons. Anyway, the pilot episode sets the tone and before long you realize this ain't Room 222, but the start of the 90s and bright colors and special effects.

Anyway, Parker Lewis himself has a gentle persona amidst his subversion, and that's what makes this series a stand-out for sure. The pilot is worth watching over and over again.

Pilot

Parker Lewis Can't Lose because he has borrowed wholesale from the film, Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Well the High School principle is female here.

The wisecracking, cool kid Parker Lewis and his pals Mikey and Jerry use all sorts of hi tech equipment to stay one step ahead of everyone. Especially Ms Musso the school principal who just wants to expel Parker.

The pilot sees Parker and Mikey falling out over new girl Robin Fecknowitz (Milla Jovovich.) Parker likes her but does not realise that she is going out with Mikey. Only Robin fancies Parker more and his sister Shelly has spotted them kissing, taken a photo of them with a long lens camera that she just happened to be carrying and posted it all over school.

Now Parker needs to make up with Mickey but nothing works until the high school bully Larry goes on a rampage.

A series likes this works with teenagers than adults. You have to forget about what influenced the show. Also overlook how did Shelly get such an expensive camera and how did Parker obtain a videotape of news footage of saving those bus passengers earlier in the morning.
