In this episode, Paul's black Ford Thunderbird convertible actually "belongs to" and is used by Mrs. Walters. After Perry and Della visit her, she runs to it, parked in her driveway, and drives to the Valley Vista Motel. The license plate on "her" car (PXY 260) confirms that it is actually Paul's car, as seen previously several times. Thus, it is no surprise that viewers never see Paul driving "his own" car; Mrs. Walters has it.
Zachary Davis tells Howard Walters the only way to get from his cabin to town is by "shank's pony"; this means on foot.
This episode, featuring a character named Andrew "Andy" Taylor, aired just five weeks before the The Danny Thomas Show (1953) episode Danny Meets Andy Griffith (1960), in which Sheriff Andy Taylor of Mayberry (played by Andy Griffith) made his television debut.
The incidental music is by Bernard Herrmann. Themes from his scores for Vertigo (1958) and Cape Fear (1962) can be heard.
One of the few episodes with two murders.
