The cruel irony.
Sleepin_Dragon3 April 2023
Glaswegian housewife Jean McLeod suffers years of domestic abuse from her husband Jim, their two youngest are in care, and his drunken antics look set to delay their return indefinite. A dramatic event rocks the whole family's world.

Play for Today never held back, and in this episode it shows the stark realities of domestic violence, it shows it in stomach churning detail, the violence is quite startling.

A quality piece of writing from Hugh McManus, great acting too, Ann Scott Jones and Joseph Brady equally good.

I can imagine that life was tough for people growing up on a Council Estate in Glasgow in The 1980's, especially

The Detectives had it spot on, Jim really was The scum of The Earth, and anyone that raises a hand in domestic abuse is exactly that.

That car, I have never seen anything like it, Thunderbird 1 had nothing on it.

Powerful viewing even after all these years.

8/10.
