The title of this episode has been acknowledged as the source for the corporate name Big Finish Productions, a company that began producing BBC-licensed audio dramas based upon the Doctor Who franchise in 1999. Episode writer Steven Moffat would, himself, go on to become producer of Doctor Who in 2009.
When Tiddler notes of Lynda and Spike's relationship, "We've all been following this dopey love story since page one," it's a reference back to the opening episode of the series, Page One (1989).
The song "You Don't Feel For Me" from the end of the episode was released by Lee Ross' band "The Gift" on a 7" Vinyl along with another song "Torn Apart" in 1988, before he'd even started filming the first series of Press Gang. There are only 500 copies of said vinyl, which are numbered. The version used in the episode is a different recording. The original track is 4:30, while the show version is 1:30. Notably one of the opening lines, "God forsaken place" has been changed to "forsaken place". The scene itself was filmed at a club in Ealing.
Written as a final episode.
