This Rawhide episode concerns a bunch of settlers in Texas who have set up a lot of homestead farms and are Union Army veterans. The drovers who work for Gil Favor are Confederates for the most part. In any event the cattle drive is met by a delegation of the farmers headed by Leslie Nielsen who look to be spoiling for a fight. Any of their crops damaged by Eric Fleming's herd and they will descend on the drovers. As they are outnumbering the drovers considerably it looks like a bad incident waiting to happen. The drovers will take a few of the farmers with them.
Unfortunately a tragic accident happens when William Joyce is tramped by horses spooked by lightning from the reymuda. Joyce has a wife who Nielsen has coveted played by Kathleen Crowley. She throws a little gasoline on the flames.
Also featured here are Martin Landau as Nielsen's friend and Irene Tedrow as Nielsen's aunt who raised him who both try to be the voice of reason.
In the end with both Eric Fleming and Robert Cabal facing a frontier necktie party, it's Clint Eastwood who saves the situation. You have to see how Clint reverses the odds on the farmers.
Nicely acted all around.
