Having watched many episode over the course of many years, this show seemed to be made more for a comedy than a TV western. In fact it was a silly story that had some of the corniest dialog heard in a long time.
It begins when a slick traveling salesman named Sullivan comes up to the farm house of a family named Croxton. Vashti Croxton is at home and the salesman gives her a sales pitch worthy of an award. But he leaves without incident.
Later Vashti is talking with her sweetheart Cade Conway. Vashti is in love with Cade and wants to marry but the rest of the family is totally against the marriage. A lovers scuffle breaks out and Vashti receives a cut to the cheek. When her father and brother arrive back to the house, she tells them that the salesman was the one that hit her. So the two go into North Fork to find Sullivan.
Lucas gets involved when the two Croxtons confront Sullivan and Lucas takes control and confronts Vashti about the assault. He asks everyone 'when was the last time you told a lie' which tried to make a good moral show but instead made it more juvenile.
With so many great episodes in the collection you can expect a clunker from time to time and this episode takes the cake. This episode never was worthy.
