- Mark and Lucas disagree on the character of a man claiming to work for the circus. Lucas shoots the man during a robbery at the hotel, but Mark believes the man's story. This puts father and son at odds.
- Marty Blair rides into North Fork to drum up business for the circus that is traveling west from Ohio. He's good with his guns and talks a good line but Lucas takes an immediate dislike to him. He's convinced that Blair isn't to be trusted and seems to be proven correct when Lucas shoots him during a robbery at the hotel. It was dark when Lucas shot him and Blair says he was just an innocent bystander. Mark's taken a liking to Blair and believes his story leading to some friction with his father.—garykmcd
- Circus coming to town! Or is it? Does the drummer have more on his mind than the sideshow? Marty tries to convince everyone that he's telling the truth and that he was just in the wrong place when Lou's safe was being robbed. Micah does some checking on that circus and Lucas doesn't think that he even works for it. Mark likes Marty and is at odds with his pa on who is telling the truth. Marty insists he's right. Lucas insists he is. Lucas feels that he knows how he can prove who is telling the truth. He enlists Mark's help. Mark tells Marty that the sherrif and his pa sent a telegram to the circus checking on his employment. That night, Mark and Lucas wait at the livery to see if Marty makes a run for it. Which is exactly what he does. Lucas thinks he has the upper hand but Marty has a gun in his sling ... Mark apologizes to his pa.
