First of all,I love this tv show, some episodes more than others. This whole 2-part episode should have only been 1 part. It is too long and confusing as it is presented, in 2 parts. Even with generous allowances I can not honestly claim to have a firm grasp on the story. Much of it strains credibility, does not make much sense or ring particularly true.
Just a few examples: The 'rock-star' is a bland nobody that barely utters 5 words and he is hardly seen at all.
(Too bad they didn't instead get Rick Springfield to reprise his rockstar role from the "Dwarf in a helium hat" Rockford files season 4 episode here?
Springfield played a perfect role as a rockstar with 'problem friends.')
George Loros is a good actor, and James Garner liked him enough to put him in 6 episodes of Rockford files but here as 'Eddie' he is over-used until 'Eddie' is extremely annoying.
Marcia Strassman is not too bad as a flaky journalist 'Whitney Cox' but it is impossible for me not to think of her as "Mrs. Kotter".
With that in mind, watching 'Eddie' mooning over 'Mrs Kotter' and behaving like a lovesick simp is a lot to ask of the viewer. Asking the viewer to listen to Eddie whine throughout the episode over 'Mrs Kotter' is more than a lot to ask.
While not entirely bad, there are many other, much better single-episodes and two-parters of this fine series.
