In the syndicated version of this episode, Jim Rockford's' 74 Firebird Esprit (2 headlights) changes/morphs to a '77 Firebird (4 headlights) repeatedly back and forth from the 5th through the 12 minute of the teleplay. This is due to the addition of stock footage when the episode was converted into a 2-parter for syndication.
As Rockford leaves the airport he is followed. In an attempt to lose the tail he pulls into a parking lot. When the tail fails to find him in the lot he tries to leave but Rockford drives toward him and forces him to back up, making him run over driveway spikes and giving him 2-4 flat tires. Moments later the tail drives out of the lot with no damaged tires. Presumably, the driver stole fresh tires off another vehicle in the lot, but it would take some time to make the switch.
At 7:43 and at 10:00, the Firebird changes from a 1974 to a 1978. Clearly, the car has two headlights and then four in the changes.
On the way to Jameson's country house, Rockford drives around the same corner twice.
The Cadillac limo that takes Rockford to meeting with "one of the most important men in the outfit" starts off as a 1974 model (last year for dual round headlights) and turns into a 1970 model and then back to a 1974 model when they arrive at their destination.
When Mr. Rockford forces a pursuing car onto driveway spikes, a flash from an explosive charge in the tire can be seen.
An American flag can be seen in the background of the F.B.I office. (38Min 50sec into part 2), It is oddly colored with dark red in place of the blue field and rust color for the red stripes, possibly a prop flag from the black and white days when odd colors were substituted to make the grey-scale image look more natural.
The country club scene they used/mixed filmed scenes from the columbo episode, Any old port in a storm. The couple horribly dancing and after you can see a shot of the dead playboy's blond fiancee and her 3 friends sitting around table. That is the scene columbo tells the girlfriend her fiance is dead.
When the guy tailing Rockford from LAX airport is first driving through the parking structure, he makes a turn around the same corner again & again - as seen by the same set of cars & trucks being seen through his windshield several times.
When Jim's picked up from the trailer (right after having taken Sue Jameson to breakfast), and thrown into a limo - right after Jim say's 'right', there's a long exterior shot, of a limo, from overhead. But, the leaves on the tree are bare (which doesn't happen in S. California), and, the grass is full of dead leaves. It's actually a shot of a limo traveling through Central Park, in New York City, in the fall.
Upon returning to LA and when Rockford retrieves his car from the airport parking garage, the driver's door is unlocked and the driver's window is rolled down. It is highly unlikely Rockford would leave his car unlocked before leaving town.
When Rockford is in Newark, a view of the city street a See's candy store is seen. There are no See's candy stores in Newark, NJ.
When Rockford is abducted towards the end of part 2, scenes of the drive to the deserted field are recycled. At one point telephone wires rising toward the right blend into a denuded tree. The scene then goes to Rockford in the back seat of the limo, then back to the side of the road, where the telephone wires are seen blending into the same denuded tree again.
When Rockford is driving to Jameson's country house, he drives along a dirt road, which is recycled moments later. At one point, the road enters the picture from about 2 o'clock, straightens out toward the bottom, then curves to the left at 6:30. The view changes to Rockford driving along a road cut into a hillside. It then goes back to the previous scene with the S curved road (from 2 to 6:30). This time Rockford stops at 6:30.
Members of the crew and two cameras on tripods can be seen on the sidewalk as the man in the gray Chevy, who just lost Rockford, is leaving the parking lot.
