Garry Shandling scripts the last of his four episodes
kevinolzak23 November 2016
"Committee Man" was the last of four scripts written by Garry Shandling, opening with Fred being accepted for a position on the mayor's Community Relations Committee. Bubba greets the new committeeman: "what did you commit?" "I'm committin' you Bubba to the home where the senile roam!" Fritzi Burr (ninth of ten) as Mrs. Channing and Sosimo Hernandez (last of two) as Senor Rodriguez make fine foils for Fred's wisecracks, one of which elicits a familiar response from Hernandez: "I didn't know that!" (previously heard in "Fred Sanford, Legal Eagle"). Morris Wilkens (Ronnie Schell) is the committee leader, their next vote on a contract for a new apartment building for crooked Sam Jordon (Edward Andrews). Fred knows all about his tenants' suffering from excessive flooding: "he had to hire Jacques Cousteau to fix it!" The shady character himself drops by while Fred rehearses his negative speech: "the problem living in Sam Jordon's buildings is not the rent going up, but the tide comin' in!" Can committeeman Fred G. Sanford be taken in by a $1000 bribe and vote in the affirmative for Sam Jordon?
