The third season opener, "Lamont as Othello" finds Lamont rehearsing the role of Shakespeare's Othello with Rollo, then hosting his drama workshop teacher Marilyn O'Neill (Maureen Arthur) in the house to go over the strangling of Desdemona. Eavesdropping to find out who the mystery girl is, Fred watches through the window as his son is in the process of strangling a white woman, instantly in heart attack mode. Imagine the shock when Bubba takes a look and grabs his chest too! Once explanations are made about the play, Marilyn invites Lamont and his father to her parents' Beverly Hills residence to continue the rehearsal. Fred notes the lack of smell, and innocently walks in on Marilyn's folks, thought to be away for the weekend. We close out with a discussion of bigotry, and jumping to conclusions.

Warning: Spoilers
Who would not be upset at some strange man coming into their bedroom? Not only that, the dialogue was equally stupid. When the couple's daughter says, "Mr. Sandford is offended." That was ridiculous.
He is trespassing. He has no business being in their home nor in their bedroom. So in what universe does Fred have a right to be offended? How are the parents in the wrong?
