Maureen Arthur who plays Marilyn was married to Aaron Reuben, one of the show's producers.
Bubba became the second person besides Fred to have a fake heart attack in this episode. The first one was Lamont in "A Visit from Lena Horne".
Fred makes an elaborate reference to Watergate, describing a movie called "The Day of the Night Creeper." Fred says "it's all about an army of big bugs surrounding Washington DC," adding that the "bugs are crawling up the steps, eating their way toward the President." CREEP was a pejorative nickname for the CRP (the Committee to Re-Elect the President) that played a role in the Watergate break-in. Bugs (listening devices) also played a major role in the scandal that eventually brought down President Nixon in August 1974.
At the opening, Lamont and Rollo are reading from Act 5, Scene 2 of Othello. Lamont is reading the part of Othello, and Rollo is reading the part of Lodovico.
