"Lamont, Is That You?" predates the 1976 Redd Foxx vehicle "Norman...Is That You?" in its depiction of a father questioning his son's sexual preference. Lamont protests the lousy flick that Rollo took him to see, staying for a second viewing because he couldn't believe it the first time! They don't notice which bar they enter for a beer, The Gay Blade, witnessed by an observant Bubba, who rushes off to tell Fred as the two instantly walk out: "well, you battin' a thousand tonight Rollo, that's the first time I ever been in a bar where all the brothers were sisters!" A disbelieving Fred tells Bubba that they went into a bottomless bar once: "that didn't mean we stopped wearing pants!" Davis Roberts makes the last of three appearances as Dr. Caldwell, still coughing when he arrives, who pretends to examine Fred while actually observing Lamont. His verdict is a familiar one: "the one thing I do know is, I don't know!" His fee is the usual $10, Fred can only pay half, the doctor asks when he'll get the rest: "I don't know!"
