"Sanford and Niece" opens on a romantic evening with Donna, surely spoiled by the untimely arrival of Aunt Esther, with news of Fred's niece Elizabeth (Tina Andrews), who needs a place to stay as she attends USC. She was born the year after his wife Elizabeth died, and bears a striking resemblance to Lamont's mother. Fred meets her two roommates, Delores (Berlinda Tolbert, later of THE JEFFERSONS) and Lewis (Ray Vitte), and flips out in the days before THREE'S COMPANY. Fred manages to keep Esther from learning the truth: "why don't you go out in the yard and graze!" Tina Andrews never appeared on the show again, but was a regular on the follow up series SANFORD ARMS, which lasted only 8 episodes.
