- Now none of the girls has a relationship, the quartet hits a salsa bar all night, so Carrie is late for a photo-shoot for Stanford's boyfriend Nevin's magazine; the result is worse then she ever feared. Only Samantha is absent from the power-walking, where Miranda bumps into an ex, hunky ophthalmologist Josh, who just didn't give her orgasms; history repeats itself, and she still fakes coming; once she tells him, his confidence is shaken, so he gets her to coach him- now sex feels like an exam subject. Charlotte enjoys the handy jobs done by and kissing with unemployed actor Tom, too much to see him move to Salt Lake City for a soap part, but is that enough? Samantha was picked up by the salsa club's co-owner William, and invites Carrie to join them for the summer in the East Hamptons, but is stood up. At a party with Stanford, drunk Carrie meets single smoker Jake.—KGF Vissers
- All 4 girls are without boyfriends at the same time.
Single and fabulous Carrie gets a horrible photo taken for the cover story of New York Magazine: Single and Fabulous...?. she thought the cover story was without the question mark. Carrie was out partying all night and is 60 mins late for the shoot. Stanford had got her into the list, as he knew the editor Nevin (James Lecesne). She is taken for the shoot without make-up or anything. A few days later, Carrie is horrified to see her worst photo on the cover of New York Magazine. The article talks about the fact that clubbing and dancing can't hide the fact that these women are in their 40's and completely alone.
The question mark rattles all the 4 girls. Has the fear of being alone raised the bar on Faking?
Miranda fakes orgasms with Josh (Mark Feuerstein). She faked it with Josh 2 times (years ago) and broke up with him on that count. Charlotte says it's better to fake, than to sleep alone. Plus, a faked orgasm is worth it for the right guy as Josh is an Ophthalmologist. After the question mark fiasco, she started dating Josh again and fakes it. But the girls point out the folly and futility of the same and Miranda stops cold turkey. Miranda knows that Josh is a nice guy and he means well. Miranda admits to John that she has faked it every time with him and makes him realize all the other women he dated probably did that too. Josh is a champ and takes tips from Miranda on how to arouse a woman. But even after all the effort and the practice, it doesn't work. Miranda fakes it one last time, to let Josh down easily.
Charlotte starts dating her handy-man Tom (Tom Gilroy). Tom is an aspiring actor and wants to leave NYC since the acting thing is not working for him. So, Charlotte starts having sex with him to keep him in town. Tom still leaves. Turns out Charlotte was faking intimacy, while Tom was faking about caring for his acting career. Charlotte starts paying for her handyman.
Samantha dates a club owner William (Robert Montano), who calls them a "we" right away. She had met him on girls' night out, but reached out to him later, after the question mark fiasco. William uses "we" too much, but Samantha is OK as William owns a club in the Hamptons, has rented a place there for the summer, and has invited Samantha to spend time there with him. But then, William stands up Samantha for a dinner date. Basically, he faked the future to get whatever he wanted in the present. Samantha is exposed and feels like a fool. Later, she throws a drink on William. Samantha realizes that sometimes it is better to be alone than to fake it.
Carri makes Jake (Bradley Cooper) at a party hosted by Stanford. Jake and Carrie hit it off, but Jake finds Carrie's picture on the magazine, and she ends it, as she wants to confront her question mark once and for all. Carrie has a lunch alone, no faking.
