Protecting the Son
claudio_carvalho9 July 2006
In the middle of the night on the road, a young woman is going to the maternity for the delivery, when she suddenly glows and blows. Lana Lang and Clark Kent are driving a truck along the same road and find a baby in the crater created by the explosion. They take the baby to the hospital, and the Kent family temporarily guards him, who is connected to Clark. Lana and Clark give the name of Evan, and on the next day, he becomes a teenager, precociously aging. The scientists of Lex Luthor study the case and conclude that the boy needs a transfusion of the bone marrow of his unknown father. Clark tries to save Evan. Meanwhile, Genevieve Teague has a meeting with Lionel Luthor and menaces the integrity of Lex, in case the stone is not delivered to her.

The good part of "Ageless" is the duel between the dangerous Genevieve and Lionel, who proves to be a master of the evil. The dark side of Lex is also presented in the last scene with his "Eventually" answer. The story of Evan is silly and without any explanation for the happenings with Evan and his mother. My vote is seven.

Title (Brazil): "Envelhecendo" ("Aging")

Windmill
dcn196126 July 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This is more a goof than a review. Evan kept stating that he wanted to see a windmill and Lana finally took him far out into the country to see a windmill before he died. There is a windmill right on the Kents Farm.

Glowing Baby Boy
Rcwilkinson12326 December 2007
A second-generation meteor mutant falls in Clark and Lana's life in this mediocre episode.

A woman is about to conceive a baby when she mysteriously explodes in the car along with her husband, the driver. Clark and Lana discover the baby, which is all that remains from the explosion. Clark believes that he is from another planet as well, similar to the crater that Clark's ship created when he arrived on Earth. However, the boy rapidly grows at seven-year intervals each day, and the boy, along with Clark and Lana, that he doesn't have much more time to live. In return, Clark tries to help the boy find his real father.

Clark and the boy have an emotional connection due to the fact that they both feel like they have uncaring biological fathers. But the content of the episode is really supernatural and not one of the best episodes of this series.

Windmills

Some clarification for the confused. The windmill Lana took him to had a ladder that took them to the top and a platform they could sit on that overlooked Metropolis. That's why they went to that windmill. It's all explained in an earlier episode when Lana tells Clark she always wanted to climb up there but was afraid of heights.

"Ageless"

I watch Smallville when I can.I work 3Pm-3Am much so I miss the first run episodes as I am basically in the stone age technology wise except for this laptop. So I have no Tvo or any other recording device. So I'm gifted that locally WGN out of nearby Chicago,IL. shows re-runs of Smallville very early on Sun. mornings.I was blessed yesterday morning with observing the single most impressively touching television I have ever seen in Smallville's season 4 episode titled,"Ageless".I was left in tremendous awe of that episode. All who were involved with that episode I thank and congratulate, because that episode deeply touched my heart so much maybe it's due in part to me being a divorced father of three young children.I'm not sure?It was just really well done all around in my opinion, and I most highly recommend it to you all who desire to see it.Sincerely,-Bruce

Awesome episode!

This episode is good, a sad one. But I loved it! There was no Lois Lane. This character is so annoying. Sadly I know that she will be is a lot of episodes from now on. I'd prefer Chloe.

Painful to watch
saratonin249 August 2013
This entire episode felt like some sort of fairy tale written in effort to shove Clark and Lana together yet again. It seemed that someone really wanted some touching scene between the two or either writers were just out to impress the Clark/Lana shippers. Why are we still harping on these two? Please, please, please, give the Clark/Lana story line a break. We've seen more than enough of them. The previous episode with Chloe and Clark being so close was a breathe of fresh air. How many more times and ways are writers doing to drag up the relationship with Clark and Lana. Bury it, because if it ever was alive it's long been dead.

And I get that he was a "special" kid but the scene at the end about how he's changed everyone's lives for good left me eye rolling.

I wish I could at least say there were good performances to make up for the atrocious writing. Kristin Kreuk is the equivalent of nails on a chalkboard. The character of Lana is no better. The only redeeming quality was that the kid that played Evan was pretty adorable.
