A third previously unknown power of Clark's comes to fruition in this exciting episode of "Smallville."
A freak accident involving a collision with Clark's heat vision and a kryptonite diamond causes Clark to go blind. Without his vision, however, another sense is heightened in hearing. With a new ability to hear at advanced capabilities, Clark overhears a conversation between Lionel and Chloe, and discovers that Chloe has been investigating him for Lionel. Clark tells Lex about this overheard conversation. Lex tells Lionel that he knows what Lionel said about Lex, that he is going to put his son back in an executive position at LuthorCorp in order to simply watchdog Lex. Lionel believes that Chloe was Lex's source of information, and responds by ending her position and the Daily Planet and firing her dad.
The new ability also allows Clark to rescue Pete, who was kidnapped by a man named Masterson to force Pete's mother, who is a judge, to free Masterson's partner-in-crime. In addition, Lana continues to get to know Adam, who she met in physical therapy while regaining the strength to walk after being trampled by a horse.
This was my favorite episode of the three so far that involve Clark learning, understanding, and honing a new ability. It was a good correlation with the fact that when people go blind, often other senses are heightened, particularly hearing. Add a good storyline with it, and you've got another great episode.
