The second episode.
You immediately know its the 1980's when Tim visits his local pub and sees a Space Invaders machine. Those wretched contraptions ( made in Japan ) blighted many a quiet afternoon's drinking in those far-off days. Tim has landed an acting part in an amateur production of 'Cinderella' ( he is playing the back-half of a panto donkey ). Zac ( the late Maurice Kaufmann, and a one-time husband of 'Avengers' actor Honor Blackman ) is the play's director and is having a fling with a female member of the cast. He asks Tim to 'distract' his previous amour, the lovely 'Vanessa' ( Anne Clements ). She is charmed by Tim, but the man she is really interested is 'Tiny Heseltine' ( Ian Cullen ), who is a bit of a bully. And he happens to be very tall. Tim finds himself in a David vs. Goliath situation...
It is hard to watch this and not be reminded of the 'Man About The House' episode 'Colour Me Yellow' in which Robin Tripp ( Richard O'Sullivan ) also had to face up to a bullying pub regular. Though the outcomes in both episodes are wildly different. Father urges Tim to let the bully beat up so he can then gain the girl's sympathy. It does not quite work out that way.
Funniest moment - Tim braces himself to get a good thumping from Tiny. Guess who walks into the room at that moment? Yes, its Mother, and she smashes a vase over Tiny's head. Bye bye Vanessa.
