Resurrection

Lydia Wilson is out on parole after doing time for prostitution. She is due to meet Susan Silverman and Spenser but she is attacked by a group of men.

One of them leaves with her handbag that contains something valuable.

Spenser gives chase and catches one of the hoodlums. It brings Spenser into contact with a crooked vice cop. Hawk also has an interest in the vice cop who it seems set Lydia up.

Bryce Taylor who once a hot shot defence lawyer and a friend of Spenser takes up Lydia'a case. She is charged with parole violation.

Bryce's unorthodox style upsets Spenser and brings him into a collision course with a Chicago gangster who is involved in the vice trade.

Another hard boiled edition of Spenser. There are veteran character actors such as Paul Dooley and rising stars such as DB Sweeney.

Aside from quotations ranging from Jack Dempsey to Shakespeare. There is humour. A nurse warns Hawk that a man he is chasing has a gun. Hawk pulls out a bigger gun.

There is mild racism towards Hawk. It is mild probably due to network tv rules and Hawk' demeanor.
