A good episode. {Minor Spoilers}

Warning: Spoilers
This is a fun episode of Spongebob Squarepants. I like Spongebob and I think it is very charming and this is one of the best episodes of Season 1. I laughed several times in these two segments.

In the first segment Spongebob and Patrick take Squidward jelly fishing after he is injured.

In the second segment Plankton tries to steal the Krabby Patty Secret Formula, and he meets Spongebob. This is a really good episode. I thoroughly enjoyed this and thought it was really cute. If you like cartoons, this is a good episode to watch. This is also one of the best Spongebob episodes. It is clean, charming fun.

Jellyfishing - 6 or 7 out of 10

Plankton! - 10 out of 10 (or more if I could)

Jellyfishing is an inoffensive but ultimately fairly forgettable SB short. I remembered it being average and it is. Just an excuse to abuse poor Squidward.

Plankton! - on the other hand is absolutely incredible. The character is one of my favourites in the series and every single time he speaks I find him hilarious. With choice lines like "come here you swine" and "porous freak" and when he lectures Squidward on his mediocre nature. Plankton makes the show so special. I absolutely adore him And his nefarious schemes. Perfect SB villain!

Perfect in all the right places. Plankton's reveal is great, and way more quirky funny jokes.

Jellyfishing is awful, but Plankton is the other aw
tobyfan-485211 July 2023
How is Jellyfishing a 9/10, this episode is miserable, what do people gain from watching Squidward torture episodes. This episode is unbearable, unfunny, and just stupid, very, very, stupid, I never enjoyed this episode, and I never will.

Plankton however, I do understand, the episode is a great introduction to plankton, and I enjoyed some of the jokes, that episode is worth a 9/10, not Jellyfishing

Overall, I hate Jellyfishing, but I enjoy Plankton. I don't get it, what do people gain from watching Squidward torture episodes? Because that's what this episode is, a Squidward torture episode.

Jellyfishing - 0/10, Plankton 9/10.

Blown out of the water

This episode has one good segment and one brilliant one.

Jellyfishing (7) Jellyfishing has good pacing, great slapstick, and Spongebob and Patrick are irritating without being unlikable. The visual gags are bombastic and frequently very funny, and Squidward gives as much as he gets, even if I feel a lot more sorry for him now than I did when I watched this as a kid.

Plankton (9) I'm almost tempted to give this episode a 10, but I won't quite. Plankton's introduction is amazing, he's a witty and sinister character with some absolutely incredible one liners and wonderful voice acting. The plot is surreal and slightly disturbing, showing a great contrast between the well meaning yet loyal Spongebob and the cynical and conniving Plankton. Plankton insulting Squidward is definitely. The episode's highlight. The only thing making this not a solid 10 is that it's funny without being hilarious.

Squidward's torture begins here
UltimateGoblin61622 July 2023
Yes, I'm one of those, who love Squidward's torture episodes. They got worse and more violent with time, visually painful to see, but these first ones are pretty cool. This time Squidward involuntarily participates in jellyfishing and well... I think it will make him remember about the importance of watching the road when you are driving...

And "Plankton!" episode shows us, that SpongeBob wasn't fired from KK after the conclusion of "Help Wanted", but it also introduces one of the best characters of the series: Plankton! That's a good episode and that's the first time SpongeBob's insides are explored. There will be much more moments like this, but worse and disgusting. Also I love how SpongeBob's bedroom and Krusty Krab already look familiar and not weird like in "Help Wanted". And I really think it's cool, that Sponge isn't that dumb here, plus the gag with a gramophone might be used too much here, but it's so funny... I couldn't not mention it.

Overall, both parts of the episode were cool and memorable, but not really 10 for me.

In my opinion jellyfhish is a bad chapter, one of the worst, seeing squidward suffering so much gave me anguish and discomfort AND NO LAUGHTER!

instead plankton is an epic chapter, with good jokes and memorable scenes

A Great Episode and a Weak One
TVGuy326 May 2010
This episode of SpongeBob had great moments and bad moments. The majority of the bad moments came in the episode "Plankton!"

"Jellyfishing" SpongeBob and Patrick want Squidward to go jellyfishing with them. He rides away on his bike and gets into a crash. SpongeBob and Patrick take him jellyfishing to cheer him up. This episode had some great gags, and the Blue Danube montage was great. 9/10 "Plankton!" SpongeBob is making a Krabby Patty and it starts moving around. SpongeBob thinks it is "haunted" but Mr. Krabs discovers that it's a plankton, named Plankton, stealing the Krabby Patty to find the secret formula. This was a weak introduction to Plankton's character and he was honestly much funnier in other episodes. What bugs me most about "Plankton!" is that SpongeBob's laugh is different. 5/10 9+5=14 14/2=7

Whole Episode: 7/10

the first of much controversy
Holmoo929 April 2023
Jellyfishing. I really don't enjoy this episode I consider it a Squidward torture episode and not a good one, SpongeBob and Patrick are really stupid to believe this, and the episode is just boring. The ending isn't satisfying either, Squidward didn't deserve it. At least they do care if he's okay and apologise, but this is pretty bad

4/10

Plankton! Wow, a way to introduce this character! And they introduce him with a dastardly scheme that makes him seem like a large threat, and SpongeBob calling a Squidward a mediocre clarinet player and Squidward fainting is just great! If you know what I mean, you know what I mean.

8.9/10.

A Bad one, and a Great one
jeffbowgren14 February 2016
OK, Let me get this straight. I do NOT hate Pre-Movie Spongebob. In fact, I think it's better than Post-Movie Spongebob. Now that's out of the way, let me discuss why I give this pair a 6 out of 10.

First, Jellyfishing starts with a pretty good scene of Spongebob and Patrick getting ready for jelly-fishing! After playing that, it turns into a annoying scene when after Spongebob and Patrick asks Squidward if he wants to play Jellyfishing,he crashes his bike off a cliff. And how is that funny? I'm still clueless to that question. Then lets cut into a gag, that was actually good! They used phones in the same room, to call each other. But it clearly didn't make any sense, well because that green wallpaper was never used again in Spongebob's house. Then when Squidward arrives home, we cut to a hell of a annoying scene when Spongebob and Patrick doing shenanigans to make Squidward's day the "Best" day ever for him... But that clearly doesn't work because, they're idiots. And it was painfully predictable. Then 60 seconds of nothing happening. Then they get to the gag where Patrick says "Firmly grasp it" over and over, and then jabbing the jelly-fishing net into Squidward's hand. A great line, but a painful visual. Then, BIG JELLYFISH, because potatoes. Or probably a lazy way to end this spoiled episode. Then Squidward gets his revenge by unleashing a jellyfish to sting Spongebob and Patrick, leaving on the sort of positive way to end.

In conclusion, Jelly-fishing was mediocre in the story, and bad on the comedy, and rancid on the annoyance level. So, this episode is a unrefrigerated, and a little spoiled lunch meat.
