- When one of Daniel's professors dies in a lab explosion which might be related to the Goa'uld, he comes back to Chicago to investigate what really happened.
- Daniel attends the Chicago funeral of Dr. Jordan, the archaeology professor for whom he was the most brilliant assistant ever, before leaving to pursue his far-fetched alien-Egyptian theory and join the Stargate program; but smells a rat after an explosion in Jordan's lab. Daniel brings in the team, soon realizing that Jordan's last Egyptian expedition stumbled upon a unique grave, from which pieces are missing, which actually held the remains of at least one Goa'uld divinity: Osiris, god of the afterlife, and first Pharaoh. Dr. Fraiser's analysis of a canopic jar [mummy entrails-container] finds an amazingly well-preserved symbiont, but the trace of its counterpart reveals one of Jordan's present assistants, Dr. Steven Rayner, whom Daniel suspects took a golden amulet to open a unique tomb and fell prey there to another goddess, Isis, who actually turns out to be incarnated from Jordan's other assistant, Dr. Sarah Gardner, who remains quite alive and murderous.—KGF Vissers
- After one of his university professors, Dr. David Jordan, is killed in a lab accident, Daniel Jackson returns to Chicago to attend his funeral. He sees his former colleagues, Steven Rayner and Sarah Gardner, but he's not made to feel very welcome. Rainer, in particular, chastises him for just disappearing 5 years ago. As Jackson looks through the archive, however, he finds evidence that Professor Jordan may have found artifacts of the Goa'uld on Earth many years ago. He sends a funeral jar back to SGC for examination, and they find a Goa'uld symbiont inside. It turns out that the professor had found a new site in Egypt, one that contained materials far older than had ever been found previously. An ancient deity is looking to re-emerge, however.—garykmcd
- Daniel reads in the newspaper that his former professor, Dr. David Jordan, has passed away in an explosion at his laboratory and travels to Chicago to attend the funeral. Daniel encounters his former love, Dr. Sarah Gardner, and Dr. Jordan's assistant and rival, Dr. Steven Rayner, and learns that they are studying ancient Egyptian pieces that have been borrowed from the Egyptian government. Daniel finds that two pieces are missing and that the hieroglyphs are written in Goa'uld. He keeps secret about his work at the Stargate but translates the language and learns that a symbiont is kept in a sealed jar. When Steven disappears with a golden amulet, Daniel suspects that he might have killed Dr. Jordan, so he follows him to Egypt with Sam and Dr. Fraiser, trying to solve the mystery.—Claudio Carvalho, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
- When Dr. Daniel Jackson's old archeology professor, Dr. Jordan, dies in a mysterious lab explosion, Daniel pays a return visit to his old academic stomping grounds. As Daniel reacquaints himself with his former colleagues including his former girlfriend, Sarah Gardner, Jordan's research assistant he begins to suspect Jordan's death might not have been an accident. Daniel discovers that one of the items the professor was studying, an ancient Egyptian jar, contains a perfectly preserved Goa'uld symbiote. Apparently, a crack in the vessel compromised the sedative solution within, killing the creature. But further investigation reveals that a second jar might have existed. With a Goa'uld apparently stalking the campus and the local community abuzz with talk of an ancient curse, Daniel must unravel the mystery before it's too late.
