- McKay, Sheppard, Beckett and Weir are on their way back from Earth on the Daedalus, which has arrived in Wraith space. The crew has been selecting new members for the team and Weir had a tough time to keep Sheppard in command of the military. He's now a lieutenant colonel. She also had a problem in her personal life. Suddenly one of the new team members, Dr. Monroe, dies of a power surge. At first it seems like an accident, but McKay has his doubts. Then he sees Lindstrom, another scientist, suddenly fly out of an airlock after he mentions he found the problem. There's definitely something wrong and McKay soon finds out the ship is infected by a Wraith virus. While on Earth, Elizabeth Weir has had to face up to the military who want to replace Sheppard as the senior military officer on Atlantis. - Strange, worrying malfunctions begin to occur when freshly promoted Lt. Col. Sheppard along with other members of the expedition return from a trip to Earth, for debriefing and home visits, with husband Simon refusing to join Weir, aboard the Daedalus. After a fellows scientist running checks was killed by opening a door to space, McKay and Asgard Hermiod realize that the ship is infected by an unknown type of virus, as turns out Wraith-crafted, with an 'instinct' to survive, whoever it has to kill. McKay hopes rebooting should kill the virus, but its escapes twice, hiding in gliders, lastly the one Sheppard and McKay had to board and use to destroy an antenna enabling its spread.—KGF Vissers
