Sturdy episode

Warning: Spoilers
Pecry (a winningly sharp and vibrant Tanya Allen) ignores the warnings of both Dante (fine work by Michael Pare) and Lucretia (an equally excellent Claudette Roche) when she decides to befriend one of a pair of criminal cousins that the crew of the Tulip are transporting to an automated prison on Mercury. This episode works as a strong showcase for Percy, who feels great loneliness and a basic unfulfilled need for companionship that's compounded in severity by the fact that she's constantly stuck on a spaceship floating around the universe. The scenes between Percy and dangerous, yet personable outlaw Jeremy McNaughton (a charming portrayal by Gideon Turner) are genuinely touching and give the story a good deal of real heart and warmth. Moreover, the action scenes are quite thrilling and the last third with Percy being stalked on the Tulip by Jeremy and his cousin Alistair (an appropriately brutish Mark Pegg) is both gripping and suspenseful. Granted, the cheap GGI effects are extremely dodgy, but this flaw is more than compensated for by the absorbing narrative and a thoughtful human element.
