Director Bob Kelljan was a natural choice for this episode, having directed 3 vampire movies, including both "Count Yorga" films. Producer Joseph T. Naar was responsible for both "Blacula" features, including the sequel that Kelljan directed.
This would not be the last vampire themed TV production for David Soul. He played Ben Mears in the mini-series "Salem's Lot".
In the pilot for season two, Hutch is distracted by a go-go dancer, and Starsky blows on his cheek to get his attention. Here, the reverse scenario is played out: it is Starsky who is subjugated by the cave dancer, and Hutch needs to call out to him, several times, to get his attention.
When ballet dance teacher René is staring at the African-American student, the camera cuts from his face, to the student, to the painted portrait of his late wife, close up on her face. This is repeated at least three times. It would appear that the artist used John Saxon's eyes (René) as model to paint the dead wife's eyes.
The framed painting behind the last stoned girl in bed, depicts Baphomet.
