DeVito's big break
shanphil27 March 2023
This may be titled Bobby's Big Break, but Danny DeVito steals the show here. His best performance to this point in the series. He is mean, nasty, animated, and simply hilarious. I'm watching the first season and don't remember DeVito being funnier than this. He may be, but this was prime Louie!

So, far the first season is pretty good. Few duds. Not as funny as I think it eventually gets once Rev. Jim enters the scene and the character nobody remembers leaves. I look forward to seeing more of Louie's antics. DeVito embodied this character as few sit com actors ever did. Bravo! Bravo! Bravo! Bravo, Danny.

Bobby's Big Break!

Warning: Spoilers
I have been a fan of the "Taxi" TV series for a long time, and currently I am re-watching all the old episodes on DVD.

This is Jeff Conaway as 'Bobby' Wheeler's story. He is only a cab driver until his big acting break comes, and he thinks this is it. He gets a part in a daily soap opera. Louie is being his usual mean self, and tells Bobby that it's just a matter of time and he will come crawling back to the garage.

Things seem to be working out well when Bobby's part becomes recurring, but after a couple of weeks his character gets into an accident and does not pull through.

Bobby has to return to the garage and drive again, and Louie is happy and waiting for him to give him grief. But Alex has a talk with Louie, to convince him that it just isn't right, and he shouldn't go too hard on Bobby.

Jeff's real life sister, Michele Conaway, has a small part in this episode as a wheel-chair bound actress on the soap opera.
