The episode title spoofs the non-canon Sherlock Holmes novel The Seven-Per-Cent Solution (1976). In this case, obviously, 10% refers to the amount an agent takes from his clients.
In a way, art imitated life as, after this series ended, Tony Danza had another long-running hit television series, Who's the Boss? (1984). Jeff Conaway once commented that he was a trained actor, and Danza was a boxer, but not in a negative way. Also, Conaway once had a walk-on part for First Kiss (1985). Although Conaway's slight comeback was on the hit series Babylon 5 (1993).
One of the framed posters in Bobby Wheeler's apartment, the one near his front door, is for Lanford Wilson's TALLEY'S FOLLY. The original production of the play starred Judd Hirsch.
