The opening seems almost like an episode of The Twilight Zone (1959), the way everyone outside and inside the saloon appears frozen in time as the Texan passes by. No one reacts or looks at him until he mentions his friend's name. Then they all quickly look at him.
Helen Wallace was about a month shy of her 69th birthday when she played the part of Mrs. Richards in this episode and her character looked to be every bit of 69 years old. She doesn't seem like the most believable actress to play the mother of a fourteen year old girl.
