Chris Calvin shoots at a tree with his father's picture on it from about 3 ft away and yet the bullets do no damage to the tree.
Curley demands that Chris give him twenty dollars to cover the saloon debt, but he hands him a ten dollar bill and even in closeup, nobody seems to notice. The story is set in the year 1873, but the bill used is an actual series of 1914 federal reserve note, which might have led to the confusion; that bill used the same portrait of Andrew Jackson that appears on later twenty dollar notes.
