Misunderstanding = Serious & Funny

Warning: Spoilers
Trying not to give anything away here. This is in my top 3 episodes of Season 4.

It starts out innocently enough until Furley enters the trio's apartment. A misunderstanding of what is going on in the bathroom is priceless.

Furley enters the trio's apartment several times in this episode, and consistently forgets why he came up due to the "situations" in the apartment. All funny scenes.

This title is a misnomer as this is a Jack & Janet episode. Their chemistry is first rate. The episode becomes serious when Jack & Janet receive the possibility of a dire prognosis for Chrissy. It stays serious until Jack & Janet are back in the hospital to visit. (With the exception of a scene with the doctor & Chrissy which sets up the next misunderstanding).

Jack & Janet misunderstood the doctors prognosis and the comedic chaos begins. The scene in the hospital room with Chrissy is great. It gets even better in the hall when Jack & Janet meet up with Mr. Furley who knows the real prognosis. Excellent stuff here.

You can see where they used some footage from the earlier and later taping in the show, as Janet has tears one moment and watery eyes the next.

Finally in the tag, Mr. Furley comes to the trio's apartment and finally remembers what he came up for.....as he wrote it down this time.

We all know John Ritter's prowess in physical comedy. IMHO he's the best of a generation. Joyce has some excellent physical comedy in this one as well. She is criminally underrated as she has the ability to give you pretty much anything, while still playing the "straight man".

Great episode.

Warning: Spoilers
This episode always was a favorite of mine for many reasons.

Yes the show was known for misunderstandings. But this one just perfect.

Don Knotts was perfect. From the beginning in the apartment, to his character forgetting why he had come to apartment multiple times, and most importantly towards the end at the hospital when he knew Chrissy was fine but Jack and Janet did not.

"You can just take her home, prop her up on the couch and stare at her all day!"

Just classic.

All actors in this episode where just perfectly in sync and great. Janet and Jack were great... "I have something in my eye" and the interaction between Chrissy and the doctor is classic.

And to cap off this review, I have wonderful memories of my mom and me watching this during first run (and later repeats) just laughing together with this perfect cast of characters with great writing.

Highly recommended! Great episode.

A bump in the head
ccjp21 February 2006
Plot SPOILERS After trying to put up a shower curtain, Chrissy slips and bumps her head on the tub. After almost fainting during the night, Jack and Janet believe it is best to take her to the hospital..there the doctor informs them that either this could be a simple bump or a serious head injury which can have fatal consequences...Jack and Janet are heartbroken to learn that their roommate may die, and spend the night reflecting on their friendship... Early the next morning the doctor and Chrissy are talking, and the doctor tells Chrissy she is healthy and fine. Chrissy begins to crack jokes and leaves the doctor in tears as he steps out of her hospital room and meets Jack and Janet outside, who end up believing that Chrissy will die soon... This leads to several funny moments between Chrissy, Furley with Jack and Janet.

Review This episode is not as good as most on the season, perhaps due to it being more of a serious episode, although it does have the Three's company trademark of misunderstandings... 3.5/5
