***SPOILERS***File #3192 of the US Treasury & Taxation Depertment has to do with former bookmaker Paul Lacosta, Byron Foulger, who together with his wife Marie, Vivi Janiss, tried to get away from paying taxes of some $200,000.00 of ill gotten cash they made taking book by burying it in a lock box in the basement. When five years later they dug it up the money in it was soggy and filled with holes with the ink faded. Thus making it almost impossible to trade or spend without the Feds getting word of it and having the pair arrested for non reported income.
At first slowly getting the rotten and dirty cash cleaned up Paul Lacosta got away with the cashing of some $3,000.00 of it by buying over the courter medication at the local drug stores and pocketing the change. It later become obvious to the Federal Government that Lacosta was laundering dirty money and sent Agent Guthrie, Harry Lauther, to check him and his old lady Marie out. With panic setting in Marie got in touch with crook and businessman Harry Jasper, Philip Van Zandt, to launder the rest of the cash, some $197,000.00, through his business ventures but at an astounding .80 on the dollar in Jasper's favor!
****SPOILERS**** It didn't take long for Marie's husband Paul to see that he's been had by his despite wife Marie and the greedy Jasper and refused to go along with Marie's plan. Paul was more then willing to end up going to jail and do two years time then getting Jasper to take him for a ride. In the end all three Paul Marie & Jasper were busted in a Fed sting and ended up behind bars making license plates for the state. As for the rotten soaked and pot marked cash it was destroyed and replaced with new bills put into circulation by the US Government. Which unlike what Paul Marie and Jasper were doing was perfectly legit!
