Perhaps the best "Tru Calling" episode - in the Top 5 at the very least

Warning: Spoilers
In one of the most jaw-dropping twists on the show's usual formula, a dead body asks JACK for his help; the day rewinds for both Jack and Tru, and while this is happening Tru "sees" bits and pieces of the victim's past, realizing that that's how Jack knows so much about the people who ask her for help even when he's nowhere near them at the time. The victim was a beautiful young girl (beautifully played by Maggie Lawson) who committed suicide by jumping from a clock tower, and both Tru and Jack race to find out what drove her to that decision. Things get complicated when Jack starts developing feelings of compassion for the girl - or does he? One of the best things about "The Last Good Day" is that it is unpredictable right to the last minute - what will prove stronger, Jack's devotion to his "job" (further enforced by Tru's strict father), or his remaining traces of humanity? The last line, which I won't spoil here, is perfectly designed and delivered to make Jack a very complicated character. And although I usually prefer the episodes with a stronger emphasis on mystery, "The Last Good Day" is a gripping character drama. ***1/2 out of 4.
