As the sole survivor of Brig Gen Savage's crew, TSgt Komansky is rescued by the French Underground and returned to Archbury in a matter of a day or so. Actual returns of Allied aircrews rescued by the French Underground normally took several months, especially before the D-Day invasion; also such aircrews were almost never returned to combat in the European Theater, but reassigned to another theater or back the the Continental US because they knew too much about the Underground operations and would risk compromising that information if subsequently captured by the Germans.
This season begins with General Savage' plane being shot down and crashing, killing all but Sgt. Komansky. Yet later, we see Lt. Col. Joe Gallagher after landing coming from Piccadilly Lilly, which was General Savage's B17 bomber.
This actually establishes that the B-17 normally flown by the Group Commander is named Piccadilly Lily by the unit's tradition, with no numeral after the name to denote multiple aircraft. Over the course of the series, several B-17s named Piccadilly Lily, piloted by either Savage or Gallagher, are shot down or crash-land to include the one aboard which Savage is killed in action. This would also explain discrepancies and lack of continuity with the female figure and lettering of the name.
