- The sun is starting to rise while Donna Hayward (Lara Flynn Doyle) and James Hurley (James Marshall) come to the office of Dr Jacoby (Russ Tamblyn). They look closely and find odd things there, for example a collection of tiny umbrellas on a white jewellery box. There is also a button which turns on a radio cassette which plays different kinds of Hawaiian music. Within a coconut, they find a cassette tape and also one half of late Laura Palmer's necklace. Somebody attacks Dr Jacoby and viciously beats him. He watches in terror how James and Donna pick Madeleine 'Maddy' Ferguson (Sheryl Lee) up, with a horrible blonde wig pretending to be Laura on Dr Jacoby's behalf.
Special FBI Agent Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan) beats Jacques Renault (Walter Ocasiez) at the casino/brothel One Eyed Jacks. Cooper rejects one of the prostitutes on the casino kindly, and gives the croupier a purple broken chip with a value of 1,000 dollars. Cooper says that he's a friend of Leo Johnson (Eric Da Re) but Jacques pretends that he's never seen Leo. Meanwhile, Blackie O'Reilly (Victoria Catlin) has given Audrey Horne (Sherilyn Fenn) her new uniform: that of a whore. Audrey is there under a false name. She gets upset when she notices Cooper is there through the surveillance screens, but she says to Blackie that there is no problem at all. She is relieved when another customer takes Cooper's place.
The conversation between Cooper and Renault is recorded by Deputy Tommy 'Hawk' Hill (Michael Horse). They talk about late Laura Palmer. Jacques tries to leave at that moment, but he stays and talks about another "bird" - meaning another girl - who happened to have been a friend of Laura's. Jacques explains how Leo told Laura "bite the bullet, baby", concerned about the broken chip. He says that Laura had been with him and Leo voluntarily.
Shelly Johnson (Mädchen Amick) is washing her hair on the sink when Leo arrives and threatens her. Deputy Andy Brennan (Harry Goaz) explains that Lucy Moran (Kimmy Robertson) is not talking to him anymore. He and Harry S. Truman (Michael Ontkean) are at the sawmill waiting for Jacques Renault. They arrest him on the charges of attempted murder of Ronnette Pulaski and murder of Laura Palmer. Andy shoots Jacques because he had taken a gun to shoot Harry. They call an ambulance.
James, Maddy and Donna listen to one more of Laura's recorded cassettes, addressed to James. She says that a mystery man may get to kill her or him if she says the name. Sex with that mystery man is weird, and she says that they use the word FIRE as a codeword for their relationships. Dr Will Hayward (Warren Frost) gets called out to tend to Jacques' emergency surgery.

He says that they will be partners for life, and he seals the agreement with blood. Meanwile, Catherine Martell (Piper Laurie) looks for some papers in her office like mad. She thinks that Peter Martell (Jack Nance) knows something about that, but he doesn't seem to trust her much. Catherine only has Pete's help, as Ben is plotting against her.
Harry treats Andy as a hero of sorts so that eccentric Lucy Moran overhears it. Andy and Lucy finally kiss each other. She tells him that she is pregnant. Andy leaves in shock, which leaves sheriff Truman and Hawk in amazement of their mutual coldness.
Meanwhile, Bobby Briggs (Dana Ashbrook) phones Lucy, accusing James Hurley (James Marshall) of hiding the cocaine he's planted on his motorbike. Lucy thinks it was Leo who accused James. Dr Jacoby (Russ Tamblyn) is at hospital, taken care by Will Hayward (Warren Frost).
At the sawmill office, Catherine and Pete are looking for some papers. Pete finds something which makes him say "bitch", but he says her that it was his lost yearbook. Just then, Hank Jennings (Chris Mulkey) phones Catherine to tell her where the papers she's looking for are. Hank is trying to talk Norma (Peggy Lipton) into loving him again. Norma's his boss at the diner and ex-wife. He talks about their old anniversary and they end up kissing each other, which leaves her really worried.
Big Ed Hurley (Everett McGill) finds his wife Nadine (Wendy Robie) on time, presumibly still breathing. He takes her to hospital immediately. Leland Palmer (Ray Wise) goes to the police station to know whether they've really found Laura's murderer. They tell him that they've found a suspect who is at hospital.
James tries to talk to Cooper and shows him Laura's cassette. While they were holding that conversation, Truman finds the cocaine in James' bike. James is arrested.
At One-Eyed Jacks, Einar Thorson (Brian Straub) finally agrees to sign the papers to buy the property at Ghostwood.
Bobby Briggs (Dana Ashbrook) visits Shelly but it's Leo who "welcomes" him trying to kill him with an axe, while there is a shooting episode on the disgusting soap opera Invitation to Love ("Jared" (Peter Michael Goetz, "Montana" (Rick Giolitto) and "Chet" (Lance Davis). Bobby is rescued because Hank Jennings shoots Leo.
The timing bomb which Leo had set up to burn Shelly up goes on. Catherine Martell appears and asks Shelly whether she was the person who called her and told her to go there. Pete gets in in order to save Catherine, as they have finally forgotten their arguments.
Leland goes to hospital to smother Jacques off. It looks like Leland has succeeded.

Cooper goes back to his room and gets called on the phone. A voice tells him not to open the door, but he does so as he believes it's room service. Just then, Andy comes on the phone claiming that someone shot Leo Johnson. When Cooper opens the door, somebody unseen and wearing in black clothing shoots him three times with a silenced gun at close range. A body is heard hitting the floor.
To be continued......
