Warning: Spoilers
A car pulls off a rural road in Arizona. Two men, Robert Fortier and Steve Rowland, pull an unconscious Peter Miller out of the back seat. They toss Miller in the ditch, then Rowland pulls a gun and fires twice. They pile back in their car and beat it.

Some hours later, the still alive Miller is found and rushed to the hospital. U.S. Marshal's John Bromfeild and James Griffith are called in by the local Sheriff, Hugh Lawrence. It seems that Miller was the guard on an armored car that been hit for 250 large. The armored car driver had been killed, and Miller had been the number one suspect.

Miller has been shot in the neck and is unable to speak or move. He can however blink. Bromfield asks him a series of questions about the robbery. They are interrupted by, Ruta Lee. Lee says she is Miller's wife. Could she have a moment with her husband alone. Bromfield agrees. As he turns to leave, he notices Miller is blinking up a storm.

Outside the room, Bromfield gets that "something not right here" feeling. And right he is as we see Lee is about spike Miller's meds. Bromfield though re-enters the room before she can do the deed. Bromfeild however does not see the poison attempt.

Bromfeild has Deputy Griffith drive Lee back to her house. Not 5 minutes later, Marjorie Owens arrives and says she is Miller's wife. No wonder Miller had been blinking like a crazy man. He had been trying to tell Bromfield that Lee was a phony.

The Marshal quickly calls Griffith on the Police radio. He gets no answer, for the very good reason that Griffith is bound and gagged in the back seat of his car.

Our Miss Lee is the boss of the armored car robbery crew. They had heard over the radio Miller had survived his wounds. They had taken Miller as a hostage when they hit the armored car. When they no longer needed him, they had disposed of him. Unsuccessfully as it turns out. Lee's visit at the hospital had been an attempt to remedy the situation.

They had grabbed up Grittith just as Lee and the Deputy had left the hospital. Lee, Fortier and Rowland, with Griffith in the trunk, are now roaring towards the border with Mexico. Once they get across they will dispose of Griffith.

They hear over the radio that the Police and Border Patrol are now on the lookout for them. The criminals pull over to an abandoned shack. They will wait till night and head cross country to the border. They leave Griffith in the car while they make themselves comfortable.

Griffith manages to free himself and radios in his location. Bromfield and the boys do the old cavalry bit and arrive just in time. Rowland is killed while Fortier is wounded in an exchange of gunfire. Lee decides to comes quietly after her two cohorts go down.
