Using the occasion of Al Capone's vacuum of power, a secondary figure in Chicago envisages a cross-country crime syndicate, his name is Arnie Seeger (Richard Conte) inviting the might mobster from St. Louis Joe Kulak (Oscar Beregi) to entice others mobsters teaming up on this new endeavor, Seeger has in mind over Joe Kulak spearheading as front man in such upcoming agreement it is taken for granted, the group has been track down by Eliot's untouchables in every single step on Chicago, when enters a low profile hood Max Schram (Milton Selzer) he got a parole from Juliet's jail and looking for a job on Seeger's organization, prompt denied by him due Max was a squealer in recent past, he will be a key character that will provides to Eliot got some valuable information concerning the mobsters meeting in Chicago.

Max Schram actually was married for a couple months with Rosie (Susan Oliver) renamed as Roxie is now Seeger's girl unaware all about her previous marriage, which should be spoil such fruitful affair with plenty of expensive gifts also a good life provides by Seeger, extremely hurt Max becomes a informer for Eliot about the meeting, later a leaking info over the reunion, Kulak figures out that Roxie should be a Eliot's informer and demands to Seeger his death, the bleak blonde girl aware of her destiny delivers in silver platter the Max's head without pitty as proof of confidence, nonetheless there isn't free lunch for the scheming Roxie.

Customary actor on Noir pictures Richard Conte already in decaying process at his career is hired as special guest star, made a trustful portrait of an ambitious mobster dully escorted by a B-girl often blonde as Roxie who is enchanted by an expensive way of life as mink coats, cars, jewels, and a lavish apartment sponsored by the older Seeger far away from that bad matrimony which Max allowed to her, although everything has a price to pay whereof she can't afford.

Thanks for reading.

An Ambitious Man
bkoganbing8 April 2014
Richard Conte is a small time hood in Chicago who is dreaming big. He'd like to be Lucky Luciano and has the idea to start a national syndicate now that Al Capone is in jail. He brings in Oscar Beregi from St. Louis who has a big enough name to be a front. Or so he thinks that he'll be the power behind the throne.

This guy takes what he wants and among other things he's taken is Susan Oliver away from another small time hood Milton Seltzer. Now Seltzer's out and looking for a handout, but Conte humiliates him and Oliver humiliates him further. That was a mistake because now Seltzer is going to be a stool pigeon for The Untouchables.

This is as scurvy a lot as you'll ever find in an Untouchables episode and if you can wrap your mind around the concept of Milton Seltzer and Susan Oliver ever being married you'll enjoy it. I enjoyed it because Richard Conte makes just about everything better by being in it.

Lots Of Twists Plus Conte And Oliver
ccthemovieman-110 September 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Big-screen actor Richard Conte and small-screen veteran Susan Oliver spice up this story about a couple of guys who want to be big-time gangsters now that Al Capone has been put away.

The two hoods are "Arnie Seeger" (Conte) and "Joe Kulak" (Oscar Beregi Jr.). Gumming up the works is a small-time hood "Maxie Schram" (Milton Setzer, a great character actor of his day). Schram has recently led out of jail and his wife "Roxie" (Oliver) is now the girlfriend of Seeger, who doesn't know the former connection. This is one of those evil film-noir-like women, too. You can trust as far as you can throw her, to use an old expression. Yikes, talk about a messy triangle, especially when Maxie starts informing to Eliot Ness!

As you can tell, this is an episode with a lot of ups, downs and twists - a good one.
