An eventful day
Paularoc2 May 2013
Warning: Spoilers
Working out of San Pedro, Cap'n John Herrick is the skipper of the tugboat Cheryl Ann. He's lived in the waterfront community his whole life and now has a job he loves and is a happy family man with wife May and two sons - Carl, who works on the tug with him and Dave, a cop. Herrick is quite upset when Carl tells him that he plans to marry the wealthy Terry Van Buren and become a stock broker. Then his son Dave tells him that he's on the trail of crooks who the police believe are smuggling cobalt out of the country through the docks of San Pedro. A visit with the Van Burens goes much better than Herrick expected when he finds that he and Terry's father have in common their love of fishing. But then, when Dave does not call at the prearranged time, Herrick goes off in search of him. One of the fun things about these old television shows is seeing actors who later became well known in roles early in their careers. In this case, it's Carl Betz as Dave and Jack Elam and Lee Van Cleef as the smugglers. Willie Best also has a small role. But it is Preston Foster, whose career in movies went back to the early 1930s, who carries the show.
