"Gabe Under Pressure" finds Kotter's stomach uneasy, coming to school with an Alka-Seltzer egg cream. Carol Androsky is cast as school nurse Miss Matusak (her only appearance), who insists that he and the Sweathogs attend physical examinations at the local free clinic. Horshack doesn't trust them, as his perfectly healthy friend went to the clinic and was pronounced pregnant! Barbarino doesn't mind doctors because there are always nurses nearby. The Sweathogs agree to take the physical if Gabe takes one first, but he's not a brave little soldier: "I'm not gonna see a doctor, I don't feel good!" The pain lies between the chest and the stomach (Epstein: "a liver without onions, I'd take it back if I were you!"). Kotter says that his father has claustrophobia, which Barbarino believes is 'a dread fear of Santa Claus!' Miss Matusak confesses that she always wanted to be a stewardess: "coffee, tea, or milk, instead of just handing them a little bottle and saying, 'you know what to do!'"
