This episode marked the second appearance by veteran leading man John Payne, but his first as a guest panelist. Payne impressed by correctly surmising that the first guest, co-inventor Arthur "Spud" Melin had invented/manufactured [with Richard Knerr (30 June 1925 - 14 January 2008) who together owned Wham-O] the Hula Hoop, commenting on his apparent wealth given the craze, saying "I've got 3 of them in my house." Melin left with $5. He and Knerr would go on to invent and/or market the Super Ball and the Slip n' Slide, as well as the Frisbee (which was sold to them by Fred Morrison), reaping millions. He died at age 77 in 2002 in Costa Mesa, CA.
