Paul Gordon, the last contestant, worked for the 'F. & M. Schaefer Brewing Co'. The Brooklyn brewery sponsored "The Schaefer Award Theater," a series of major first-run motion pictures presented before major holidays with only four commercial interruptions. The program, which had aired on WCBS-TV (Channel 2) since 1959 would be discontinued on December 21, 1968.
Gertrude Berg's sitcom 'The Gertrude Berg Show (1961)' (a.k.a. 'Mrs. G. Goes to College') would premiere the following Wednesday. After mediocre Nielsen ratings throughout its run, CBS abruptly cancelled the series in April 1962.
With this show, the opening words prior to the curtain entrance are changed to "And now, live from New York, let's meet our 'What's My Line' panel".
