During the Mystery Guest segment with Melina Mercouri, an unidentified man walked onscreen and began to address the audience. John Daly used code to ask for assistance ("Gil will you get the relieving unit in") and indicated a problem to the crew ("schedule two") as the camera changed its focus and the sound was lowered. A few moments later, producer Gil Fates and announcer Johnny Olson came into the frame and removed the speaker from the studio, with Bob Bach trailing behind them.
The man who interrupted the program was Ronald Melstein, a public high school math teacher from the Bronx, and owned a computer dating service. Melstein eventually did get on national TV a decade later to talk about computer dating services.
Betty Landes (1931 - 2020), the second contestant, became a local celebrity in Staunton, VA, when she was invited to be on the show, and was supported by local businesses which gave her the dress and the jewelry she wore. Landes would retire as a blade inspector from the American Safety Razor Co. after 34 years of service.
