In 1962, Dudley Moore released his first credited music album, 'Dudley Moore Plays The Theme From Beyond The Fringe & All That Jazz'. He had previously recorded as 'The Dudley Moore Trio'.
At the time, Alan Bennett was a teacher and researcher of medieval history at Oxford University. He gave up academia and turned to full-time writing in 1968.
Peter Cook, Dudley Moore, Alan Bennett and Dr. Jonathan Miller had premiered in the comedy revue 'Beyond the Fringe' on October 27, 1962, at the John Golden Theatre. The show had originated in London's West End and would remain on Broadway until May 30, 1964, after 667 performances. Hugely successful, it was viewed by President John F. Kennedy on February 10, 1963. 'Beyond the Fringe' would be recreated in the Netflix's TV series' episode 'Mystery Man (2017)'.
A still unknown to American audiences, Peter Cook would eventually appear on six of the show's 1963-episodes as a guest panelists.
Robert Goulet had appeared in the star cast Broadway musical 'Camelot' since December 1960, at the Majestic Theatre. Goulet left the production in October 1962 and started his solo career.
