This show was originally scheduled to air on CBS on August 25, 1995. Pivotal to the plot, the episode ends with a minute-long montage of various women being abused and murdered, which the network censors announced they were going to remove, but series creator Linda Bloodworth-Thomason staunchly refused to let them air the show without it. As a result, the Lifetime network, which at the time held the exclusive syndication rights to sister show Designing Women (1986), ultimately aired the show uncut in a marathon along with a rerun of "Men Are Good" and the remaining episodes that CBS hadn't aired. The marathon was hosted by Delta Burke (who appeared on-location during the filming of the movie Maternal Instincts (1996)), and it concluded with an exclusive interview with Bloodworth-Thomason.
In the 1995 Lifetime network broadcast, the ending montage was underscored with Willie Nelson's rendition of "You Always Hurt the One You Love." The DVD/digital version retains the music that Bruce Miller had originally composed for the scene.
