The Sins of the Fathers
Hitchcoc8 February 2020
A pleasant woman who has just been to an auction, spots a woman on the street and deliberately runs her over, killing her. She claims the woman she killed was a ghost. This leads to an investigation of a bizarre family. The episode does a nice job of integrating the past with the present.

Gripping engrossing plot but with some flaws

Warning: Spoilers
Found this episode well acted and engrossing to watch due to not knowing what sinister event had happened all those years ago. Only at the very end is the story revealed. After watching it though some questions come to mind but it did not detract from an enjoyable episode. I thought why was the victim's husband not more upset when interviewed, possibly involved? When the son dug up the garden why didn't the brother and sister stop him? Why didn't the victim go to the police in over 20 years but stay in the area? Despite these questions which may have required more screen rime to resolve and therefore fall outside the alloted time, I still really enjoyed watching it.

Seen a Ghost
Prismark1014 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Morna Petheric seems to be having a good day as she goes to an auction.

However when she sees an older woman Dinah Curran, Morna thinks she has seen a ghost. She drives he car straight at her and kills her.

The police thinks that Morna might be mad with her story of being haunted by a ghost.

When the police visit her mother Alma, they seemed perturbed by her mother's strange behaviour. She runs a guest house. Morna's uncle Vernon also runs a guest house next door but he has not spoken to Morna in years.

The pathologist observed old stab wounds in the dead woman's hands. Later the police find out that Dinah was once married to Morna's uncle and her father apparently walked out on the family years ago.

There is a lot of odd behaviour in this episode. I can see why both Wycliffe and Kersey felt exasperated.

Not only Morna's mother and uncle appear to be slightly eccentric and unconcerned with Morna's plight. Her brother who is the only one who seems to care about Morna suddenly starts to dig up the garden.

Even Dinah's second husband seems to be blase over his wife's death.

I did wonder what was the reasons for this unusual behaviour. In the drama some of the characters appear to be simpletons.

It was always likely that Dinah and Morna's father were having an affair and were caught. For Morna and her brother who were children at the time. Some long buried memories bubbled over, especially for Morna when she saw her aunt who she thought had died some years earlier.

The episode also concluded Doug Kersey's fate as he is exonerated over the custody death.
